Children’s Quote

Working in a low-income and multicultural school makes this point really hit home. There have been many times where students have handed myself or co-teacher various odd trinkets they found or papers with indecipherable marks on it to us with such great pride and joy. A child’s love is unique and amazing, and when they choose to give YOU something…. be proud. Be grateful. Love upon them and show them how much it means to you. Because THAT is EVERYTHING to them. ❤

  1. Hi Brittany,

I work in a low-income school. My students give me a lot of drawings they create in their free time. I do my best to hang each one on the wall by my desk. The sense of pride students’ have on their face when they see their artwork on the wall is priceless. Then when students do have the chance to give me something, I make a big deal out of it. I always smile and give them the biggest hug I can. Through my actions, they know their gift is appreciated.

    1. YES!!! i DEFINITELY agree channae 🙂 sometimes it can be a bit much with all of the thing they draw (occasionally I think they just don’t want to walk over and put it in their folders or mailboxes to take home and all of a sudden “oh, it’s for YOU, Ms. Pyle!”…. lol :-P) but I still love it. My favorites are the pictures of me! They draw the silliest things but it is so sweet and heartfelt. We have an Artists Wall for them to hang their own drawings up that is “kid-art” (process not product art, so non of it ever looks the same) and it becomes a big deal when I want to hang their pieces in other areas, such as a picture of a rainbow in the science center or a drawing of a tower in the block area. It brings out a more creative side to them as well as pride in their work for doing something amazing in their teacher’s eyes.

  2. Hello Ms. Pyle,
I love the quote and what it means to you in education. I too work with low income families and have experienced the same thing. Its the little things that people take for granted of how significant they can be for a child. It is great to know that I am not the only person who understands how important the little things are for children.
