This quote means a lot because, as we have learned throughout this course, when children are developing, they don’t always know the right things to say, ways to react, or understand how to express their emotions. It is our job as teachers to listen to more than just their words, but also their actions. Awe, thank you for the shout out, Brittany! I enjoy reading your blogs and discussion because I always took something away from them. Also, I absolutely love your quotes about “just” being a teacher. I’ve noticed that a lot of parents use the term “daycare” quite often, and sometimes in a derogatory way. We use “child care and preschool” in our center’s name instead of “daycare” for this reason. Many people, unfortunately, don’t see care givers as a huge part in their child’s learning. Luckily, the people who view us the opposite definitely outweigh the others. Thanks again for a great learning experience with you!

Hi Brittany,
As teachers we will encounter so many children with different personalities that come from many different types of
family functions. As your quote stated, the kids that need the most love will request it in unloving ways. This is so true. They will test our sanity at times but we must love them until a change happens. Sometimes this can take a whole year, but we can’t give up on them. We might be the only person that is truly showing them something different. We have the ability to build a life or tare it down! We must choose wisely! Thanks for sharing!!!
